The Joyce Foundation is a Chicago-based foundation that works with grantee partners to develop and advance policy reforms that promote racial equity and economic mobility for the next generation in the Great Lakes region. The Foundation works to achieve these goals by investing in policies that support the region’s young people, so they enter adulthood ready to thrive in work, family, and community. It makes grants in the areas of gun violence prevention and justice reform, education and economic mobility, environment, democracy, and culture. The organization focuses much of its investment in six states in the Great Lakes region: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Position Description:
The Investment Administrator plays a key role as a contributing member of the investment and finance teams. The position reports to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and works closely with other members of the organization’s investment and finance teams in all phases of the investment process with a special focus on operations related support.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Manages efficient data flows between various investment management systems including but not limited to custodian systems
• Assists in coordinating day-to-day operational activities
• Assists with cash flow projections using different scenarios
• Liaises with accounting colleagues to ensure matters are properly addressed, internal controls are sound, processes are efficient, and information is shared seamlessly
• Supports on-boarding process to ensure new investments are accurately included in all internal systems and pertinent terms are tracked
• Assist in recording investment transactions, maintenance of schedule of investments, and support subscription/deal documents
• Document procurement, retention, and organization related to investments documents such as audited financial statements, capital calls/distributions, K-1 tax forms, and monthly investment statements
• Provide general support as needed to support periodic investment committee and board meetings
• Support Chief Investment Officer and Investment Associate as necessary

• Bachelor’s degree required. CPA or CFA is a plus.
• Minimum of three years of experience in investment, banking, or financial services operations or comparable role in a foundation or family office
• Backstop and data management experience is preferred
• Proficient knowledge of software used for investment analysis, portfolio management, and reporting
• Familiar with various technology and software systems (Backstop knowledge a plus) used in the investment management industry
• Must be able to multi-task
• Highly detail-oriented, well-organized, independent, resourceful
• Strong quantitative, analytical, modeling, and written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrates commitment to the organizations mission and values
