Research and Development Chemist

Research and Development Chemist
Near Northern Suburbs

Our client, a leading marketer of specialty OTC pharmaceuticals, is looking for a Research and Development Chemist to work in conjunction with the R&D Assistant Manager of the research and development of new products.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Follows up on product design, reviews formulations, and assesses the efficacy, safety and stability of the products
  • Along with other R &D staff will create product development ideas in collaboration with other departments. (Marketing and Manufacturing)
  • Assist in the assessment and support for start-up products, improve and reduce costs of the products, and respond to complaints of products in collaboration with Manufacturing and Quality Control Department
  • Contact raw materials producers, external analytics labs, OEM and various consultants to collect information
  • Conduct simple maintenance checks of laboratory instruments and devices
  • Purchase necessary equipment
  • Must be familiar with laboratory instruments (balances, beakers, spatula, stirrer, water bathe etc.,)
  • Must use multiple analytical devices such as pH meter, viscometer, hydrometer, thermostat bath, HPLC, GC, etc

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • B.S. required in Chemistry, Science, Physics, Biology, Pharmacy, or Medical Science
  • Experience and skill with cream/gel formulation in cosmetic and/or external drugs
  • Experience in use of laboratory instruments and analytical devices
  • Must have excellent computer skills

OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

The organization is a full-service family office with 40 employees providing alternative investments, trust services and integrated wealth management services to five generations of one of Chicago’s founding families.

The office serves complex investment partnerships, trusts of varying size, foundations and 70 adult family households. The office is dynamic with sophisticated technology, complex structures and ongoing initiatives that will make this position interesting and challenging. The environment is collaborative as it encourages employees to participate.

THE POSITION

The Staff Accountant will report to the Senior Manager – Accounting and support the accounting team on various projects. This position provides a unique opportunity to learn about a niche industry and to gain skills in an area that will enhance personal and professional growth. In particular, the position offers substantial exposure to various investments and entities such as trusts and partnerships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop proficiency in using the accounting software, which is an integrated general ledger, portfolio management and partnership accounting software package
  • Obtain an understanding of all entity structures and the financial information needed to prepare financial statements and investment reports
  • Daily accounting responsibilities
  • Month-end accounting for assigned entities

THE PERSON

The candidate must be a hard-working individual who takes pride in their work and is eager to learn. The candidate is naturally collaboration and performs well in a team environment.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities
